We filed application with the IRS in February 2025 for Tax Exempt Status. Although we are a not-for-profit corporation established in NY State and governed by the NYS Department of State Division of Cemeteries, we were not recognized or established as a tax exempt entity with the Federal Government. If approved, donations would be tax exempt charitable contributions
We continue to work through NYS Division of Cemeteries in obtaining financial assistance for the repair of broken headstones in the oldest sections of the Cemetery. Some of these are of historical significance. This is a lengthy project and involves a significant amount of work in logging the damaged stones, preparing required notifications and soliciting contracts to perform the repairs and obtaining reimbursement.
See our Rules & Regulation for more information
Paying tribute to a life is a personal decision that may be based on your religious beliefs, cultural heritage, family tradition, financial considerations and personal preferences.

Not far from the hamlet of Lakemont, NY on a quiet country road lies the Lakemont Cemetery. The Cemetery Association was first formed on November 18, 1911.
The cemetery has a rich area history and includes many veterans from conflicts dating back to the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Additionally, notable author Paul Bowles is interred in this cemetery. Original members of the Cemetery Association were:
